Consultation on School Admission Arrangements for Heanor Gate Science College for September 2011 

The Governing Body of Heanor Gate Science College wish to consult on their admissions arrangements for 11+ transfer for September 2011.  
 
There are no proposed changes to the existing Admissions Policy, which is as follows:
 
Pupils will be admitted at age 11 without reference to ability or aptitude. In the event of over-subscription, the following criteria will be applied, in the order of priority stated.
 
1.       Children in public care.
2.       Children who are both living in the normal area served by the college and have brother(s) and/or sister(s) attending the college at the time of the admission, who have expressed a preference to attend the college.
3.       Other children living in the normal area served by the college at the time of the admission, who have expressed a preference to attend the college, with those living nearest the college, measured as the shortest walking distance from the entrance of the child’s home to entrance of the college’s main administrative building, being accorded highest priority.
4.       Children living outside the normal area served by the college who have brother(s) and/or sister(s) attending the college at the time of admission and who have expressed a preference to attend the college, with those living nearest the normal area boundary, measured as the shortest walking distance from the entrance to the child’s home to the normal area boundary, being accorded the highest priority.
5.       Children living outside the normal area served by the college who have expressed a preference to attend the college, with those living nearest the normal area boundary, measured as the shortest walking distance from the entrance to the child’s home to the normal area boundary, being accorded the highest priority.
6.       Any late applications will be dealt with following Derbyshire County Council’s guidelines.
 
          For subsequent years of entry contact the college for the appropriate deadline date.
 
 
 
 

Admissions

  • The number of planned admissions for September 2011 11+ transfer is 237.
     
    Details of the normal area boundary can be obtained by contacting the school.
     
    Parents or other interested parties wishing to comment should write to the school by 1 March 2010.
