The Humanities Faculty is currently made up of twelve members of staff, teaching History, Geography, RE, Sociology, Politics and Psychology. Within the Faculty we also have two Pastoral Team Leaders and an RE specialist AST. There is a broad spectrum of experience and age which creates a very enthusiastic and supportive environment. As a Faculty we are committed to developing the teaching and learning of humanities and are looking for someone to engage and assist in this process.

Students in Years 7 study Geography, History and RE during the year. The courses also cover many areas of the Citizenship curriculum. Students have the opportunity to take part in fieldwork trips as part of the humanities curriculum.
Students in years 8 and 9 can choose to study History, Geography or RE further including to option of beginning GCSE level courses in Year 8 or 9. History, geography and RE are all available as options for GCSE in Years 10 & 11. All students take a short course GCSE in Religious Studies.
Geography, History, Philosophy & Ethics and Government & Politics can be studied at AS/A2 level. Critical Thinking is also offered at AS Level.

Facilities

The Faculty is accommodated in our own set of rooms. We are reasonably well resourced in terms of text books and audio-visual materials. We are developing our ICT facilities with most rooms having access to laptops and the wireless network as well as a number of data projectors.
