Over the next calendar and academic year we will be dedicating all of our fundraising at HGSC to Teenage Cancer Trust following the devastating news that one of our most likeable Sixth Formers, Ben, has been diagnosed with cancer. Ben is currently undergoing an intense chemo routine and whilst this is not going to be an easy journey, using the Teenage Cancer Trust room at the Queen’s Medical Centre makes it a little easier.
As the chemotherapy has started to take its toll, Ben has already had his head shaved. As a small token of our support, to kick off the fundraising (and to show Ben we are all in this together) on Friday 19 July Mr Huntington will be having his head shaved, along with Mr Jones, Mr Stanley, Mr Graham and Mr Copeland who will all be having their beloved beards shaved off! We would love to raise as much money as possible so we will have charity buckets around on the day for donations and will be charging a 50p admission for any students who would like to spectate the Big Shave.
To keep up-to-date with fundraising events and to donate online, please click the link to our Just Giving page for Ben - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/heanor-gate-science-college?utm_campaign=updates-facebook&utm_content=Heanor-Gate-Science-College&utm_medium=updates&utm_source=facebook&utm_term=BZRMg7Awm.
Teenage Cancer Trust helps so many young people in their battle against cancer so please help us in raising funds for this worthwhile cause, even the smallest of donation helps.
