  Goodbye, Mr.Howard

  After ten very succesful years as Headteacher of Heanor Gate, Mr.Howard has announced he will be retiring at the end of the summer term.

   

  He is looking forward to being able to travel more and spending time with his family.

   

  Everyone at Heanor Gate is really appreciative of Mr.Howard’s hard work and dedication and wish him well in the future.

   

  Mr.Huntington will take over as Principal at the end of the Summer term.

  Brilliant Club

  Over the last year a number of our students from years 8-13 have been working with the Brilliant Club. For a very few students, they have their work put forward for publication in the Brilliant Club publication call 'The Scholar'. In our first year of running this programme we have been lucky enough to have two students published- Melisa Acikgoz in Y11 and Jade Kinton in Y13.

  Heanor Gate Science College 500 Words Competition

  Do you fancy yourself as a writer?

  Why don't you enter the Heanor Gate Science College 500 Words Competition?

  Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each year group with extra points to the house with the most number of entries.

  Entries should be handed in to the library by the end of school on Friday 12th February.

  HGSC Netball Trip to Disneyland Paris Easter 2017

  If you are interested in being selected for either the KS3 or KS4 squad which will have the opportunity to go on the trip you must attend the following trials. Places are limited.

  Thursday 28th Jan, Thursday 4th Feb, & Thursday 11th Feb - 3pm to 4pm in the Old Gym

  The trip for the squad is planned for Easter 2017 and includes 4 nights accommodation at Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch, 3 day Hopper Ticket for Disneyland Park & Walt Disney Studios, International Netball Festival & Tournament, Professional Coaching, New kit and match ball for each player.

  Well done Jake!

  We are very proud of our Y11 student Jake Falconbridge who has won his first competitive Muay Thai Boxing match on the 14th November in Sheffield.

  Jake has been boxing for 5 years and it has taken a considerable amount of drive, dedication and fitness to acheive his first win.

  Well done Jake!
